CRS Opinion Regarding the Rock Gaming Casino Parking Plan
The Cleveland Restoration Society opposes the demolition of the Columbia Block at 112 Prospect Avenue for the Rock Gaming casino parking plan. The Columbia Block is a designated Cleveland Landmark and has historic and architectural significance.

    I’m a supporter of CRS and have restored a number of old homes myself. In fact I owned the Bradley house in Gates Mills for a while. However, sometimes old is just old. There’s really nothing special about this building. You have to pick your battles, I don’t think this is a worthy one. Downtown needs to be revitalized and although we all wish there would be another way businesses are moving out not in. Until this trend changes more downtown living will not happen thus the Casino needs to be built and sacrifices need to be made. This is not a large one.
